Learn to create C# CLR stored procedures with and without namespaces, deploy and remove SQL Server assemblies, and enable CLR integration.

In any application persistence of data is required. Database plays a very important role to fill this gap. Microsoft SQL server is one such database. We all know database contains multiple tables to manage the data for us. However apart from Tables many more entities exist in these databases.

Let’s discuss how to connect the database to SSIS package and how to load the table record(s) from database to notepad file. We can pull it into notepad, excel, csv or any other extension that you want to store.

In this article we will learn how to display records in custom given order except ascending & descending in MSSQL Server.

In SQL Server, the query optimizer uses a cardinality estimator to answer data SELECTIVITY questions like the ones below. The optimizer uses this cardinality data, which relies heavy on statistics to get the answers and calculate a cost estimate. It takes the #of Rows to Satisfy a Predicate/Total # of Input Rows.

When applying a new SQL Server cumulative update, hot fix, or upgrade to SQL Server, it doesn’t always apply all the fixes in the patch. When you upgrade the database engine in-place, databases you already had stay at their pre-upgrade compatibility level, which means they run under the older set of optimizer rules.

In this article, you will learn how to remove duplicate rows in SQL Server using CTE.

Learn how SQL Server system-versioned temporal tables retain row history for auditing and point-in-time analysis, including table creation and FOR SYSTEM_TIME queries.

This article helps you to understand how to use the SQL Profiler, and how to trace a particular table.

I ran across a client the other day that had these Backup and Recovery options set like the picture below because it defaults this way.

We have already discussed many ways to import data in Azure DWH. Today I will discuss an OLD SCHOOL approach of data import by SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). In my opinion, this is the most promising way to import data from different data sets/ types like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Flat File, CSV, DB2 .

In this article, we will learn Pre-Deployment And Post-Deployment Script on SQL Database Project.

Learn four checks to make before running SQL Server queries in production: the right server, database, query, and recovery plan.

Several months ago, I was looking at a question posted on ask.sqlservercentral.com. I discovered an answer to a question regarding how to move a large amount of data around quickly. The solution was related to an aspect of table partitioning that I was not aware of. If you aren’t familiar with partitions in SQL Server, you can “divide” up a table into different segments or partitions. Often this is found in large tables (think millions/billions of rows) in order to quickly and efficiently move data around. Moving partitions around is a meta-data operation which is what makes it so efficient.

Sometimes, there is a need to insert bulk records into a database. In some cases, we have multiple unique records and that all needs to be inserted into the database. Instead of hitting the database for each record, we need to insert bulk records into database.

Here, in this article, we are comparing the SQL Join and SQL Subquery.

In this article, we will be talking about Dynamic Query and why it is bad.

Hello friends today I will explaining you regarding storing and retrieving image, video and other document files from SQL server using FILESTREAM future. If you are new to FIELSTREAM then read my previous article FILESTREAM Feature In SQL Server.

Detailed description with screenshots of the enhanced scroll bar introduced in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) 2016.

With this very small but handy tip, we’ll check the enhancement that has been made to DROP statement in SQL Server 2016. Earlier, we used to write additional checking logic to make sure that the object exists to drop. If we miss writing the check and if the object is not available, then we are being served with an error message. With SQL Server 2016, now we can check the existence of the respective object without any error being generated.

SQL Server 2016 has many features which you can use to make your data and application more secure, more maintained and easily retrieved as per your requirements. It has introduced both client side security such as Always Encrypted as well as server side security such as Data masking etc. In this post we’ll examine how Dynamic Data Masking can help secure our data.
