SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 are two separate versions of databases.
Also, SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) of SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 have different look and feel (UI).
But, SQL Server 2008 SSMS can still successfully access and connect to SQL Server 2012 instance.
Similarly, SQL Server 2012 can connect to SQL Server 2008 instance.

Hi Deepak, there is no way, you can only access the table via T-SQL if you know schema of SQL 2012 db I still thik it a good feature of forward compatiablity (SQL 2008 --> 2012) for those who doesn't have SQL 2012, but got to deal with SQL 2012 dbs.

you're right... Scripts and queries are working perfectly. But there are also some limitations like you can't open/edit a table(2012 DB) in design mode in SSMS 2008/R2. Please let me know if there is any solution.
