Hi
i need some advice. I am new to this. ok i have to sites where i need to extract data from one from an mysql database and pass into the relelvant api created by the other site.
now which is the best way to start on this? my aims are the following:
1. user does not need to do anything so i dont need to create a window or anything but has to be like a dll.
2. it needs to be automatd so that i can check if any updates have been done in the system, if so then copy new data across.
look forward to replies
cheers

your application can run as a windows service on the first machine. The Windows Service is a template in .NET you can modify to do the connection (through ADO.NET ) and the soap calls (through .NET remoting).
do you have full security access to the other server? (the one with the phpadmin). If you do, you can connect to mysql with a connection string through the mysql data provider(the data provider is provided by mysql and can be used with ADO.NET).

Cheers for the reply. so on the site i am downloading to do i need to apply the app on their site? they have api's created which are xml based and info will be passed via SOAP so that the necessary actions can be performed.
i dont want the application to be a window or anything but hidden. how can i do this?
in order to connect to the MYSQL database i need to connect to it. The system i am extracting from is web-based and has phpmyadmin to see the layout of the table. How can i do this using url?
cheers

if you have access to the site with the api, you can simply create a .NET app on the api site and use the mysql .NET provider to get the data on your api site and pass the info directly into the api from the app you created. since there is no user involvment, this does not have to be an ASP.NET app. You just need to connect to the datasource on the site with MySql remotely.
