I know you stated in your original inquiry that you wished to use an open source library, but for those of you having trouble finding an open source library to meet your application's requirements or those of you who are just looking for a toolkit to use that can convert PDF files to DOC/DOCX files you can use LEADTOOLS Document SDK technology in your application. https://www.leadtools.com/sdk/products/document   You can leverage the DocumentConverter class, which does not require the Microsoft Office interop assemblies, to convert any LEADTOOLS supported file format to any other LEADTOOLS supported file format (i.e. PDF to DOC/DOCX).   Here is some sample code: using  (DocumentConverter _converter =  new  DocumentConverter())   {        string  inputPDF = @ "FILE PATH TO INPUT PDF" ;        string  outputDoc = @ "FILE PATH TO OUTPUT DOC/DOCX" ;          DocumentFormat format = DocumentFormat.Docx;       var jobData = DocumentConverterJobs.CreateJobData(inputPDF, outputDoc, format);          var job = _converter.Jobs.CreateJob(jobData);       _converter.Jobs.RunJob(job);           if  (job.Status == DocumentConverterJobStatus.Success)       {           Console.WriteLine( "Success" );       }        else        {           Console.WriteLine( "{0} Errors" , job.Status);            foreach  (var error  in  job.Errors)           {               Console.WriteLine( "  {0} at {1}: {2}" , error.Operation, error.InputDocumentPageNumber, error.Error.Message);           }       }   }
