datagridviewcomboboxcolumn select the first item

Question

Hi all,
I'm
using a Datagridviewcomboboxcolumn in to dsiplay some data in my
datagridview. After binding the data to the datagridviewcombobox how
can i make it display the first item in the box by default?
My code is as follow
DataGridViewComboBoxColumn col = new DataGridViewComboBoxColumn();
DataTable dt = getData();//get data from database
col.DataSource = dt;
col.DisplayMember = "LastName";
if (col.Items.Count > 0)//There is at least one item in the Combobox
{
//Select the first item
}
dataGridView1.Columns.Add(col);

Did anyone get a solution for this? I also want a default item selected in the dropdownlist. here is my code:

In the property of combobox u set the DropDownStyle->DropDownList

No, not the click event. When the new row is added the defualt of the datagridcomboboxcolumn should shou the first item. I was thinking to cast the new cell which is in the [DataGridview.CurrentRow.index].cell[0] into datagridviewcomboboxcell and see if I can get the fisrt item selected, in that in the New Row added event of the Data Gridview

What I want is in the initialization. in other words when I add the datagridviewcombobox column,I want the first item to be selected. So that may have to deal of when adding a new row.

Hi u can do it following way.Apply the following code in datagrid click event.

string currentCellData;
