Date property and CDate function

Question

hello all
Im coding a calendar project and Im close to finished...
I need help in displaying the date in the text property of groupbox. The displayed date needs to include the day of the week eg Wednesday or Thursday, etc. so I need to use the .ToLongDateString property.
The project uses 3 forms. An opening one where the user selects a month and a year, a second form contains the actual calendar display comprised of labels, and a third form which is accessed by clicking a label in a month from the second form. The second form month is selected from a dropbox, the year from a textbox, and the day of the month from the label selection. The month is stored in a global variable gintMonthofYear and the day of the month in a global variable gintDayofWeek. (I used integers because the third form implements random access files to read and retrieve memos for each day of each month of each year.)
Anyway, any input is welcome.
Appreciate the time.

Thank you for the response -
I ended up incorporating your suggestion, and it seems to work well, however, I am having a run-time error when I try to read a RAF. Here is the basic idea:
My project uses 3 forms. These 3 forms represent a windows calendar. In the first form, i set gintMonthofYear to the selected index of a drop down combo box that lists all the months in the year. (Note, this form only incorporates the current year)
The second form also has the same combo box, but also a textbox to enter in a four digit year. Once the user has selected a month, the form rearranges a collection of labels to accurately represent the month and the year.
The third form allows the user to store a memo (max 500 characters) in a user defined structure, which contains udtMemo.strMemo and udtMemo.blnIsEmpty (which i use as a flag)
The third form opens up all RAF 1-12 upon form load (which occurs only one time)
The problem occurs when I try to read the file in form 2. I need the second form to know what file it needs to read and change the backcolor of the labels that have stored memos.
I realize that .SelectedIndex is zero based, but I thought if I added gintMonthofYear = cboMonth.SelectedIndex +1, that gintMonthofYear would match up with the filenumber declared when I open the RAF. Is this logic flawed? If so, how do I correct it? This project is due tomorrow! Please help! Thank you.

why not use a global DateTime variable that u can store all your information?
it will do all the work for you, u just set the month, year and the day of the month and it does the rest.
