getting numbers from a database column

I have a column in my database that i want to check the number before i generate a new one so that the new one is one digit higher with the format "yyMMdd" - ooo

right now i have just a counter and the date like this  Counter++; txtWaveNumber.Text = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyMMddhh- " + Counter.ToString().PadLeft(3, '0')); but i need it to check my database which is OrderMaster and table Order

Get max value from the table column and add 1 to it.
