Hi,
First download latest version of free VS2015 community edition. This VS will support for MVC5 and ASP.NET CORE. I think you can easily learn Asp.Net MVC because it's a good design pattern and you can develop more flexible and performanced based application in MVC. Choose angular js in frontend. So it's more attractive and looking good.Practice is the only way for developing our own skills.
