Is it possible to delete views?

You can delete if the view belongs to the only one table.

For example i  create the view for product table.

CREATE VIEW VW_ProdictsView

AS

SELECT * FROM ProductMaster

Now you are try to delete the product id through the view.

DELETE FROM VW_ProdictsView WHERE ProductID = 8

you can able to delete.

Now i create the view with combine two tables.

CREATE VIEW VW_ProdictsSalesView

AS

SELECT PM.ProductID, PM.ProductName,S.CustomerID,S.Price FROM ProductMaster PM INNER JOIN Sales S ON PM.ProductID = S.ProductID

Now i try to delete the record through the view.

DELETE FROM VW_ProdictsSalesView WHERE ProductID =5

You will get the error "View or function 'VW_ProdictsSalesView' is not updatable because the modification affects multiple base tables."

Because view do not have any control to delete all the referenced records in different tables.
