job or business
Hi, am working as a team lead (same company from last 4 years) in mutinational company having 5yr exp in .net tech., Salary is average and no too much work pressure but I din't see bright future in this company and my major problem is that am not able to decide should I left the company and try to join some big mnc where I get better salary or I keep working here as here I don't have too much work load and I can easily work on my personal projects. But if join any other MNC then for sure am not able to work on my personal projects. As I want to run my own business (software development) but have fear that if am not able to run my own business and keep continuing work here in same organization then my future will be in dark. Can you please provide me your opinion on this please?

I can understand the following point:
- You are not completely satisfied with job - challenge factor, tech factor / self-actualization factors
- Your soul/passion wanted you to move up
Following are the options in front of you:- Continue with current job
- Go for MNC job
- Go for business
Reading your passion of mind, i believe the first 2 options won't fulfill your passion, You are not happy @ current job, MNC job cannot guarantee happiness. So only option remaining is:- Go for business
I would write more on 'Go for business' from my experience >> People choose business for many of reasons like.- To do something 'big'
- To chose their own tech & life style
- To see themselves as a 'leader'
- To gain more money & fame
- Earn higher respects in society
- Satisfaction factor
So how to achieve a solid business, business cannot be built overnight. It requires lot of knowledge, investment (time, money), financial skills, organizational skills to be successful.I recommend you start your business in 'side track' while continuing in your current job. The advantage of your current job is you can have lot of free time. So working on your current job & building your business will gain you confidence & exploration of your passion.
After a few months, once you are confident about your business carrying out your monthly expense & future growth, you can quit your current job & completely focus on business.
I know some of my friends who did in this way!
One important thing for going full time business is "Financial Backup". You need to make sure you have a 'lean' monthly expense with less loans or no loans. People who try full time business make sure they close all loans & backup a lumpsum figure for example 10 lakhs which can yield 10 thousand per month as FD interest, which is enough for their monthly expense, plus business provides some money in upcoming months. After 1 year of running business & exploring the passion, they decide whether to go ahead or close it.
Using this simple financial strategy, after 1 year:
- If they go ahead, they make more money.
- If they close business, they do not loose any money as the core capital remains same (inflation depletes though)
Additionally you can do a part-time MBA which gives more insights to aspects of business, of course more stuffs are there in the content of MBA!I hope i have written more :) Good Luck ahead!
