Method Overriding

Question

Hi All, Why we need method overriding? instead of we can create new method   EX: class Employee { public string GetName() {   }  public virtual string SayHello() {  return "hello good morning";  }  }    Class Student:Employee {  public override string SayHello() { return "Hello good Night";  }  }     Here my question is instead of overriding SayHello() we can create New method SayHello    Class Student:Employee { public string SayHello() { return "Hello good Night"; } }   please explain.     Thanks, Manohar G

Hi,   Example :   using  System;      public   class  Program   {        public   class  Employee       {            public   virtual   void  SayHello()           {               Console.WriteLine( "hello good morning" );           }            public   void  SayHai()           {               Console.WriteLine( "hello good morning" );           }       }           public   class  Student : Employee       {            public   override   void  SayHello()           {               Console.WriteLine( "Hello good Night" ); //overriding            }       }        public   class  Teacher : Employee       {            public   void  SayHai2()           {               Console.WriteLine( "Hello good Night" ); //hiding             }       }           public   static   void  Main()       {           Employee obj =  new  Employee();           obj.SayHello();           obj.SayHai();                  }   }      If a method is not overriding the derived method then it is hiding it.
