Question

Hi....I have executed this query on visual studio command prompt like this,   "C:>sqlcmd -S DESKTOP-QWHJHG\SQLEXPRESS -U sa -P 123 -i F:\Myfile.sql"   My file has thousands of records. After executing this my system Login/sign out operations will be very very slow. How can i Delete these no.of records from my drive or where it will be Stored/Saved?? is in C Drive or Sql server DB? How can i Delete these no of records? Thanks in advance.

You should have some way to identify the records to delete. For example, before executing this statement, the table has no records. This is the simplest thing. All you have to do is just TRUNCATE table_name .  If it is, unfortunately, not all that simple, you will need to find out some criteria to delete the records and apply that in where clause. Hope you get the point.

It is slightly confusing the way you are posing the question. What is your concern and what is it that you want to achieve.   You are starting with "very very slow" and then going on to deleting the records and also asking about physical location of records. Let me try to answer few of these things on some assumptions.   1/ It is not clear if you are saying the system is slow "while" query is running or "after" query is executed.   If your system is slow "while" query is executing, try putting "GO" statement after few thousand records, for example 1 thousand or 2 thousand statements.   2/ While installing SQL Server, you can configure the data directory. Typically it would be on C:\ itself. If you have not changed default configuration it will be on C:\   3/ If know the details of the records which are inserted. You can delete them all from SQL Server Management studio or enter command you mentioned in your question WITHOUT the -i parameter which will give you sql prompt and issue delete statement there. Issue exit command to exit.
