Basically my company has the standard edition of sql server reporting services 2008 r2. I would like to use C#.net 2008 or C#.net 2010 to write the excel output reports in various directory files paths.
I would like to you if you would recommend using WCF to simulate sql server report services 2008 r2 creating data driven subsciptions? If not, what would you recommend using? In both cases, would you point me to the urls and/or books I can refer to accomplish this task?

The ReportViewer controls in Visual Studio 2010 can be used for SSRS 2008 and ssrs 2008 r2 reports.
The report viewer control can be used for a LocalReport or the ServerReport member.
FYI: problems can occur when the ProcessingMode="Remote" attirbute on the viewer. When using the report viewer in remote mode, the report is executed on SSRS by the account ASP.Net is running under. This account must have access to the reporting server and to the report you want to run. What is probably happening is that ASP.Net is running under an account that does not have access to SSRS
