using Public Variables

hi
i want to declare a public connection object which i want to access from all the forms. when application starts i want to open the database using this connection and i do not want to close the connection till i close my application. how can i implement this. if i write this in class then wherever i want to use this object i have to create the class instance and open the connection. in vb.net if i declare a varible in module i can access it from any form. is there any better way to implement this in c#. please give me a solution.

Possibly, You should not keep the connection open / active for whole duration of your application. I think you should store connection string somewhere & then open/close the connection object when needed.

Hi!
You can add a Key in Web.config file for the connection string. Now define the string as static in the class where the methods are defined. You can directly access the connection string as:
Add a key in Web.config as:
"
"
Define connection string:(in the Class)
"private static string ConnectStr =ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings["ConnectStr"];"
Now You can access the connection string.

You can create a singleton class and return that class's instance everytime so that you dont want to create instance everytime, you want the connection.
