The validation controls are used to validate the state of ASP.Net controls like textbox, etc.,
It has the different types of control to validate the required field, range, date validation, comparision,etc..
The Text and ControlToValidate is the two property has all the validation controls.
The Text will contain the error or warning message.
The ControlToValidate will associate the validation control with to be validated control.
