In HTML, browser cache can be used as temporary storage. In case of HTML5, application cache, web SQL database, and web storage is used. HTML doesn’t allows JavaScript to run in web browser, it runs in same thread as browser interface. HTML5 allows JavaScript to run in background that is possible because of JS Web worker API in HTML5. HTML works smoothly with all old browsers while most of the modern web browsers have started supporting HTML5 specifications. These browsers include: Firefox, Mozilla, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.

Let's focus on what things you can't do on HTML that you can do on HTML5 ?   1. BIG - You don't have to worry about the syntax - It will display almost everything even if your code is not syntactically right.   2. You can not use advanced elements such as intelligent form fields, performance optimized media (Audio, Video). You have to be dependent on JavaScript for these features.   3. Your Performance will suck. It takes a whole lot of time to prepare the DOM for an HTML page compared to HTML5 page.   4. Your SEO will suck. Forget about advanced SEO parameters which are only provided in HTML5. HTML5 makes Google to be more precise when it comes to ranking.   5. You can not put interactive elements such as Dragable, Dropable, Advanced Key strocks identification (This is more of JavaScript thing, but it is made EASY with HTML5
