WebServices communicate only over http protocol but WCF can support  multiple protocols  like TCP/IP, HTTP, PIPE, MSMQ etc.

Wcf is the new technology by Microsoft to develop distributed applications. Before WCF for developing distributed application generally we was using .Net Remoting or Web service. Remoting is limited to only .Net clients it's not a drawback of Remoting because it is developed only for .Net to .net communication. Web services is developed for Http client. No one will provide communication to all type of client but WCF provide support for all type of client ex tcp, http,MSMQ etc... So we use the WCF as well WCF has lots of feature than Remoting or Web Services.
